How it works

Step 1

Browse listings like normal

Shop on CarGurus, AutoTrader, Cars.com, Edmunds, or Craigslist exactly as you do today. No copy-pasting VINs, no switching tabs.

Step 2

CarScorer reads the listing

The extension detects the vehicle and pulls NHTSA recalls, owner-complaint history, and known model issues in the background.

Step 3

See the score in place

A reliability score and warnings appear right on the listing, so you know whether it is worth a closer look before you ever pick up the phone.

What you see on every listing

Reliability score

The same 0.5–10.0 CarScorer rating, model-level, on every listing you view.

Recalls & complaints

Open NHTSA recall count and owner-complaint volume for that year, make, and model.

Known-issue warnings

Documented failure patterns — CVT problems, AC failures, transmission risks — flagged up front.

Works where you shop

CarGurus, AutoTrader, Cars.com, Edmunds, and Craigslist, with more marketplaces on the way.

Works on the sites you already use

CarGurus · AutoTrader · Cars.com · Edmunds · Craigslist

Frequently asked questions

Is the extension free?
Yes — completely free, and no account is required. It uses the same public NHTSA data the CarScorer website is built on.
Which browsers does it support?
It installs from the Chrome Web Store and works in Google Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Arc.
What data does it collect?
The extension reads the vehicle details on the listing page you are viewing so it can look up reliability data. It does not sell your data. See the Chrome Web Store listing and our privacy policy for the full disclosure.
How is this different from the website?
The website scores a vehicle when you enter a VIN. The extension brings that score to you automatically as you browse marketplace listings — no extra steps. For a full personalised breakdown of a specific listing, the website still gives you the deepest view.
